Beaten Monkey Syndrome is a rather peculiar malady whereby a monkey who is routinely mistreated, beaten, tormented in various ways, will actually cling MORE TIGHTLY to its tormentor.
This syndrome has been used to explain why women will ferociously defend abusive husbands/boyfriends.
We’ve all heard those stories. “We all know you didn’t just fall down the stairs. Why don’t you just leave him?”
Why indeed. The reason? The Beaten Monkey Syndrome.
So how does this apply to marketing, or networking? Read on.
Most network marketers and/or internet marketers are Beaten Monkey Marketers.
They are routinely knocked around, slapped down, and otherwise abused by the same old marketing techniques. They spend countless hours and more money than they care to admit pursuing these failing marketing and networking strategies.
And what happens when they continue to fail? They cling MORE TIGHTLY to these same strategies. And continue to fail.
So how do you avoid being a Beaten Monkey Marketer?
Simple. If something doesn’t work after you give it a valiant effort, STOP. Try something different, something new. Don’t continue to be beaten down by marketing failures.
